  • Is EV charging an allowed use at this location?

Step 2: Pick the Charging Hardware That Matches the Site

Hardware selection is about dwell time and traffic. A workplace or hotel site usually makes money with Level 2 chargers. A highway site needs DC fast charging. Don't skip the final commissioning test. Walk through a real charging session with a car at the site before you open. And test the payment system with a $1 charge. I have a mental note from a site that opened without a test: the first customer's vehicle was left with a 100% charge and no record of payment.

Don't ignore the civil work. A cracked charging station pad or poor drainage can create a safety issue and shorten equipment life. Get the site design reviewed by a local engineer.
